TodayFacebook []has announced a new feature for
India that allows users to lock their profiles and limit ?strangers? from
getting access to information and photos. This new feature is designed to keep
the platform safe, ?particularly for women?, and ensure their privacy and keep
others from misusing their information.

Once locked, a non-friend won?t be able to:

* Zoom into, share or download your full-size profile picture and cover photo
* See photos and posts on your timeline (both historic and new)

When visiting a locked profile, there will be a disclaimer that will let a
non-friend know that the profile has been locked. According to Facebook, only a
maximum of five profile details will be visible.

According to Facebook, this feature is currently only available for Android
devices. Hence, users using an iPhone won?t be able to make use of this feature
just yet. The feature is currently not available for the Web too.

Here?s how you can lock your Facebook Profile on Android

2. If there isn?t already a pop-up showing the Profile Lock feature, tap on the
3-dot menu.
3. Now click on the ?Lock Profile? option and then tap ?Lock your Profile?
again to confirm.

Once locked, you?ll be able to see a disclaimer on your profile. You can also
check how your profile will be viewed to non-friends on the platform.
